Which properties should the water have in order to manufacture concrete?

Almost any natural water fit for drinking and that does not have a strong taste or smell can be used to produce concrete. The importance of studying the water in the cement, resides mainly in the fact that it may contain impurities, such as sugar, acids, plant material and oils or greases that hinder or delay the hydration of cement. Mexican standard NMX-C-122, establishes the maximum amount of impurities that are tolerable regarding mixing water in the manufacturing of concrete.
