On October 7, Fundación Grupo México, GCC and representatives of the Chihuahua State Government held a press conference to introduce the upcoming route of Dr. Vagón, The Health Train, through Chihuahua. During October and November, this initiative will provide free medical consultations, diagnostic tests and medications to the communities of Creel, La Junta, Jiménez and Ciudad Juárez.

For GCC, founded in Chihuahua 85 years ago, this collaboration represents an opportunity to contribute to the well-being of families across our home state. Our participation is part of the Buen Vecino (Good Neighbor) program and supports the Women’s Railcar, with a particular focus on breast cancer prevention and early detection during October.

Dr. Vagón uses Grupo México Transportes’ railway infrastructure to bring care to people facing geographic or financial barriers to healthcare.

According to information provided by Fundación Grupo México, the train has 18 equipped railcars and the capacity to serve up to 500 people daily. Services are free, available to all ages and require no documentation. Appointment tickets are distributed beginning at 6:00 a.m. in order of arrival, subject to availability.

Having consultations, diagnostic tests and medications in one place brings different stages of care closer to communities. In Chihuahua, where distances can make access to specialized services difficult, this model offers a free healthcare option for families in rural and urban areas.

Through this partnership, GCC is helping raise awareness of an initiative that brings free healthcare to our home state, with a particular focus on women’s health.
